"text": "Happy birthday Dave Stewert!\n\nAs Stewart explained in The Dave Stewart Songbook: \"When we started putting it down the song had a lot of energy and inspired Annie to come up with the great lyric, 'Would I Lie To You\" and a melody with very odd answering harmonies, 'Now, would I say something that wasn't true.' These harmonies are very unusual and Annie is a genius at working them out very quickly in her head. The song started to be a fusion between Stax type R&B and Eurythmics.\"\n\nhttps://www.songfacts.com/facts/eurythmics/would-i-lie-to-you"

Leaver says: “ ‘Held In’ reflects on those lingering dreams that feel real but fade away suddenly when you wake up--The backing vocals, part-sung by my sister, were lifted from the demo and reflect that fading feeling in the chorus. "text": "Neutral Milk Hotel biographer Kim Cooper believes In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is one of the most heavily distorted albums ever made, but also notes the lack of equipment such as Big Muffs or distortion pedals. Mangum liked having a layer of distortion over the music, but Schneider decided to not use standard effects equipment. Instead, Schneider used heavy compression and placed a Bellari RP-220 tube mic pre-amp close to his guitar. Schneider then ran the sound through a mixing console and maxed out the sound on a cassette tape. This process was done for nearly every instrument used on In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. Schneider claimed that the nonlinearities of microphone distortion gave the album its unique \"warm\" quality."
