"text": "Wonder if you could play Pure by the Lightning Seeds this song has been in my head for a couple of days and it is great!\nBest \nFiona\n--\nThe first Lightning Seeds single release, \"Pure\" is significant in that it was the first song Ian Broudie had \"completely written and sung, ever\". \n\nHe said later \"I didn't think that many people would be interested if I'm going to be honest, I suppose I didn't have the confidence really and I wasn't in a band but I did want to put my music out and get it heard.\"\n\nNonetheless, Broudie proceeded to record \"Pure\" at a studio in Kirkby. 200 copies of the single were originally pressed, but after some radio play and attention at The Haçienda, the song became a classic."

"text": "Drop Nineteens are playing in San Francisco at The Fillmore on November 7th! \n--\nDrop Nineteens were an American, Boston-based shoegaze band active from 1991 to 1995. "text": "Neutral Milk Hotel biographer Kim Cooper believes In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is one of the most heavily distorted albums ever made, but also notes the lack of equipment such as Big Muffs or distortion pedals. Mangum liked having a layer of distortion over the music, but Schneider decided to not use standard effects equipment. Instead, Schneider used heavy compression and placed a Bellari RP-220 tube mic pre-amp close to his guitar. Schneider then ran the sound through a mixing console and maxed out the sound on a cassette tape. This process was done for nearly every instrument used on In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. Schneider claimed that the nonlinearities of microphone distortion gave the album its unique \"warm\" quality."
