The album balances dark, diva-led club jams along the lines of Soul II Soul with some of the best British rap (vocals and production) heard up to that point, occasionally on the same track. The opener \"Safe from Harm\" is the best example, with diva vocalist Shara Nelson trading off lines with the group's own monotone (yet effective) rapping.”\n\nhttps://www.allmusic.com/album/blue-lines-mw0000264743"

These recording sessions saw the band on the brink of collapse, with heavy drug use, band in-fighting, and frontman Robert Smith's depression fueling the album's musical and lyrical content. If you haven’t donated to our annual Fall drive yet, now is the time!\nhttps://www.kexp.org/donate/\n--\n#207 - counting down the Best Opening Songs, as voted by YOU!\n\"Roundabout\" is a song from Yes' fourth studio album \"Fragile,\" released in 1971.\nYes' lead singer Jon Anderson and guitarist Steve Howe wrote the song. The song comes from the band's travel from Aberdeen to Glasgow in March 1971 when Yes were on tour supporting \"The Yes Album.\"\n\nAnderson remembered \"maybe 40 or so\" roundabouts during the road, which inspired them to write a song about the journey. As he had smoked weed during the trip, \"everything was vivid and mystical.\" Anderson explained that it was a cloudy day and they couldn't see the top of the mountains; they could only see the clouds because it was sheer straight up. He remembered saying \"Oh, the mountains–look! They're coming out of the sky!\", and how he began to write the song's lyrics in his notebook in a free-form style.\n\nRead more about the inspiration for one of Yes’ biggest hits here - https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/articles/features/the_story_behind_roundabout_by_yes-69213"

"text": "THE CURE will release their long-awaited new album, 'SONGS OF A LOST WORLD', on 1st November. The album, their 14th studio release, is their first in 16 years. \n\n'ALONE', the first song released from the album and we've got it.\n\nRobert Smith says, \"It's the track that unlocked the record; as soon as we had that piece of music recorded I knew it was the opening song, and I felt the whole album come into focus. I had been struggling to find the right opening line for the right opening song for a while, working with the simple idea of ‘being alone’, always in the back of my mind this nagging feeling that I already knew what the opening line should be… as soon as we finished recording I remembered the poem ‘Dregs' by the English poet Ernest Dowson… and that was the moment when I knew the song - and the album - were real.\""
