I played it when I went back to my room that night. "text": "Kevin's favourite album of 2025! Jacob Alon is a Scottish singer-songwriter born and raised by a young single mother in the quiet suburbs of Fife. Alon began writing songs in school as a way of making friends laugh, but never considered a career in music possible until much later. While studying medicine at university, Jacob found themself deeply confused and unhappy, only finding joy when making music. To the disapproval of their family, they decided to drop out and pursue their true dream full-time.\n\nNow based in Edinburgh, Jacob’s story is one of estrangement, homelessness, but ultimately, perseverance.\n\nAlon crashed with super producer Dan Carey while working on new music, of which an overarching theme will be limerence: the state of intense romantic longing for someone who often does not reciprocate. "text": "Five Leaves Left was recorded between May 1968 and April 1969 at Sound Techniques in London, England. Engineer John Wood recalled that \"[Drake] would track live, singing and playing along with the string section\" without the use of any overdubbing.\n\nThe studio's environment was also an important factor as it had multiple levels to it which enabled the creation of interesting sounds and atmospheres.\n\nAmong his various backing musicians, Drake was accompanied by Richard Thompson from Fairport Convention and Danny Thompson of Pentangle. Robert Kirby, a friend of Drake's from Cambridge University, arranged the stringed instruments for several tracks while Harry Robinson arranged the strings for \"River Man.\" \n\nThe title of the album is a reference to the old Rizla cigarette papers packet, which used to contain a printed note near the end saying \"Only five leaves left.\" https://tinyurl.com/yad35w8a"

"text": "In 1993, guitarist, Johnny Marr, told Select magazine that he thought this was \"the best song\" that he had ever heard: \"I didn't realise that 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out' was going to be an anthem but when we first played it I thought it was the best song I'd ever heard.\"\n\nIn the same interview, Marr revealed that the song's intro was lifted from The Rolling Stones' cover of \"Hitch Hike\" by Marvin Gaye. The Velvet Underground also swiped this intro for their song, \"There She Goes Again.\" \n\nMarr recalls, \"There's a little in-joke in there just to illustrate how intellectual I was getting. At the time everyone was into The Velvet Underground and they stole the intro to 'There She Goes Again' - 'da da-da-da, da-da!' - from The Rolling Stones' version of 'Hitch Hike,' the Marvin Gaye song. I just wanted to put that in to see whether the press would say, 'Oh it's the Velvet Underground!' Cos I knew that I was smarter than that. I was listening to what The Velvet Underground was listening to.\"\n\nThis song appeared to play and record itself. \"We did it at the start of the day,\" Marr reminisced to NME in 2011. \"It was an enjoyable 40 minutes. When we all got together, one-two-three-four, it was the first time all four of us had heard what it sounded like. It was magical.
