"text": "Actors (stylized as ACTORS) are a Canadian post-punk band from Vancouver, British Columbia, formed in 2012.\n\nThe band consists of founder Jason Corbett (vocals and guitar), Shannon Hemmett (keyboards and backing vocals), Kendall Wooding (bass and backing vocals), and Adam Fink (drums). Their debut album, It Will Come To You, was released in 2018, followed by their second album, Acts of Worship, in 2021.\n\nWhen asked about his varied genre musical background and the influence those bands had on his trajectory towards creating Actors, Corbett told online blog Alienated in Vancouver in 2021, \"I had exhausted myself chasing what I thought would be 'success.'\n\n\"'I started writing and producing music based on what I was really feeling and wanted to explore. That was the beginning of ACTORS. The music from my childhood just bubbled up to the surface. Roxy Music, Gary Numan, David Bowie, and Duran Duran all somehow influenced me on a subconscious level. At the end of the day though there's so many influences from over the years.\" https://tinyurl.com/3ce3z43k"

"text": "Of this track, J. Robbins of Jawbox shares, \"'This was one of the first songs we wrote with Zach Barocas, who was then our new drummer. I had the riff – if you can even call it a riff – and in my mind it was almost like a Helmet song. That’s how I heard it in my head, and when we started jamming on it with Zach, he immediately put this other kind of swing behind it that was completely different to what I had heard, but we immediately knew it was cooler than what we’d imagined. And I remember that distinctly, because it set the tone for what it would be like working with Zach.\n\n\"It wasn’t ever a dictatorial process – it was always a collaborative process. Even if one of us had what we thought was a finished song, we would always have to break it down and reassemble it in a form that suited everybody, and Savory especially suited Zach’s rhythmic predilections.\" https://tinyurl.com/yddzf546"

"text": "Shout Out Dave!\n---\nMF DOOM \"samples JJ Fad in his 2004 album 'MM Food' which contains songs all centralized around food themes. In the song 'Hoe Cakes,' he chops and loops the opening beatbox line from 'SuperSonic' in order to create the drumline for his song. He actually made the beat in 2003 entitling it 'Jasmine Blossoms,' but didn't rap over it until 2004. ... One of my favorite parts about this sample is not only the clever use of drums but also the use of JJ Fad singing the word 'Super' to finish DOOM’s opening bars.\" Here's a guide to many of the samples from \"Supersonic\": https://sampleexcavator.wordpress.com/2020/04/08/episode-1-1-supersonic/"
