He was 83.\n\nThe singer died Monday, Feb. 2, at his home in Los Angeles' Studio City neighborhood from heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease complications.\n\nFounded in New York City in 1967, the band had 21 Billboard Hot 100 top 40 hit singles include \"Til the World Ends\" and \"Joy to the World.\" But the band is perhaps best known for their covers, popularizing Leo Sayer's \"The Show Must Go On,\" Eric Burdon's \"Mama Told Me,\" \"Easy to Be Hard\" from the musical \"Hair\" and Harry Nilsson's \"One,\" best known for its opening line: \"One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do.\"\n\nChuck Negron was born on June 8, 1942, in Manhattan, New York City, to Charles Negron, a Puerto Rican nightclub singer, and Elizabeth Rooke.[4] When Negron was five years old, his parents divorced. Negron and his twin sister, Nancy, were raised by their mother.\n\nThree Dog Night disbanded in 1976 and reunited in 1981. But by 1985, Negron was permanently let go from Three Dog Night due to a recurring drug habit. He made multiple attempts at rehab and, since 1991, maintained his sobriety.\n--\n\n\"Mama Told Me Not to Come\", also written as \"Mama Told Me (Not to Come)\", is a song by American singer-songwriter Randy Newman written for Eric Burdon's first solo album in 1966.
