Adopting the stage name Jimmy Cliff, he recorded his first local hit, \"Hurricane Hattie,\" at just 14, establishing himself as a foundational figure in the evolution of ska and rocksteady into reggae.\n\nCliff’s rise to international prominence was cemented by his starring role in the 1972 cult-classic film, The Harder They Come. Playing the aspiring singer-turned-outlaw Ivanhoe \"Ivan\" Martin, Cliff not only provided the film's gritty heart but also co-produced a seminal soundtrack that introduced reggae classics like the title track, \"Many Rivers to Cross,\" and \"Sitting in Limbo\" to the world. The film is widely credited with establishing reggae as a global musical force.\n\nThroughout his seven-decade career, Cliff continued to tour and record, exploring genres beyond reggae and collaborating with artists across the musical spectrum. His enduring influence and musical excellence were recognized with numerous honors, including:\nInduction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010; two Grammy Awards for Best Reggae Recording/Album, for Cliff Hanger (1985) and Rebirth (2012); and The Order of Merit, one of Jamaica's highest national honors.\n\nJimmy Cliff’s voice was a powerful conduit for the spirit of his homeland, carrying its struggles, its defiance, and its vibrant rhythm to every corner of the earth."

Ó Dochartaigh, respectively.\n\nThey rap in a mixture of English and Irish, and come from a place where communicating in your native language could, at one time, result in your death. The trio's first single \"C.E.A.R.T.A.\" (cearta is Irish for \"rights\") was released in 2017, followed by their debut studio album 3CAG, in 2018.\n\nTheir second studio album, Fine Art, was released in 2024, and a biographical film about the group was released later the same year.\n\nThe group has been at the centre of public debates about free speech and the expression of political opinions within Ireland and the UK. Their themes focus on working class Belfast youth culture, Irish republicanism and Irish language rights. In concert, they have made statements supporting Palestinian nationalism.\n\nTheir name is derived from the extralegal punishment attacks meted out by Northern Ireland paramilitary groups. "text": "A year after Juliana Hatfield released her solo debut, Hey Babe, she released her followup, Become What You Are, under the banner of The Juliana Hatfield Three, with bassist Dean Fisher and drummer Todd Philips.\n\n\"My Sister\" was the trio's first single and the biggest hit of Hatfield's career, hitting #1 on the Modern Rock chart. The success also landed her on the cover of Spin magazine in 1994.\n\nIn reality, Hatfield doesn't have a sister; she has two brothers. \"I've always been in this sort of perpetual state of existential longing,\" she told Spin in 2013. \"I feel like something's missing. I almost feel like I have a twin who died at birth but no one ever told me that the twin existed. And with this song, I was trying to explore the idea of a sister who I never had.\"\n\nWhile writing the lyrics, she was inspired by her relationship with Meg Rafferty, who dated one of Hatfield's brothers and became a surrogate big sister to teenage Juliana. Meg even brought her to the club gig referenced in the lyrics. But Hatfield was also examining her own role as a sister to her brothers. \"I was trying to see myself from their perspective.
