"text": "Of the countless bands to emerge from the New York City underground during the post-punk era, few if any were as unique and influential as the Feelies; nerdy, nervous, and noisy, their droning, skittering avant-garde pop remains a key touchstone of the American indie music scene. Their debut album, 1980's Crazy Rhythms, was an instant classic built from angular guitar work and unrelenting percussion, and 1986's sophomore effort The Good Earth, recorded after a brief breakup and with a new, revamped lineup, added a pastoral touch that didn't blur their taut focus and energy. The Feelies were sporadically active as a live act in the '90s and 2000s, but they made an inspired return to the studio with 2011's Here Before. 2023's Some Kinda Love: Performing the Music of the Velvet Underground was a live album that paid joyous homage to one of their key influences. Even I, as a victim of the rumor mill, wasn’t immune to sharing little scandals with my friends when I came across them.
