Remarkably, they’d broken into the Top 50 as 15-year-olds in 1957 with their Everlys knockoff “Hey, Schoolgirl.” Tom & Jerry, as they then called themselves, even lip-synced the song on Bandstand, but nothing more came of that initial foray into the pop mainstream.\nhttps://simonandgarfunkel.com/biography/"

"text": "Songwriter and vocalist Mike Scott: I was in Manhattan with my girlfriend, Krista. She asked: “Is it easy to write songs?” In my 20s I hadn’t yet grown out of the urge to show off to a new girlfriend, so I said: “Yes it is!” I pulled a pen and a piece of paper out of my pocket. There was a moon in the sky, so I wrote down: “I saw the crescent, you saw the whole of the moon.” She was duly impressed. I fleshed it out in the hotel and back home in London came up with more lyrics and the piano part, a self-taught rhythm with one finger doing one pattern and three fingers doing another. \n\nHere's an interview with Scott and backing vocalist Max Edie about how The Waterboys made this great song: https://tinyurl.com/4tzw6d4c\n\nhttps://thewaterboys.bandcamp.com\nhttps://mikescottwaterboys.com"

I'm sitting here in the Gathering Space thinking about how I had to do the same thing nine years ago but for a much longer time and in really bad circumstances and how coming down here every day and being in the comforting surroundings of KEXP was a huge part of helping me get through it. I've been an amplifier/donor since I first heard your voice on a rental car radio at Sea/Tac in 2002 and KEXP has been a part of my life ever since. At any rate, I'd like to request Nada Surf - Believe You're Mine for my wife and best friend Autumn who I know is listening 2500 miles away.\n\nPlease keep doing what you do. You have no idea the depth of impact you and everyone at KEXP have.\n\nMany thanks,\n\nScott\nOwner, Creative Director\nGreenbush Brewing Co."

The Snocaps project marks the first time the Crutchfield twins had recorded music together since the split of their previous band, PS Eliot. It also marks Allison Crutchfield's first new music in seven years, following the release of the fourth Swearin' album Fall Into the Sun in 2018. "text": "\"Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)\" (also known as simply \"Norwegian Wood\") is a song by the Beatles, first released on the 1965 album Rubber Soul.\n\nJohn Lennon was the primary writer, and finished writing the words and middle eight with Paul McCartney (credited to Lennon-McCartney). It is the first example of a rock band playing the sitar in one of their songs; it was played by George Harrison. \nhttps://www.thebeatles.com/norwegian-wood-bird-has-flown"

"text": "Happy 80th birthday to Neil Young; Canadian singer-songwriter and musician, producer, director and screenwriter. On his 19th birthday, Neil Young wrote \"Sugar Mountain,\" where he reflects on his fleeting youth. (\"You can't be 20 on Sugar Mountain.\")\n\nYoung wrote this about the caretaker of the ranch he bought, Louis Avila. The ranch was the Broken Arrow Ranch, purchased for $350,000 in 1970 (that's nearly $3 million in 2025 dollars). Reportedly, Avila was giving Young a tour of the place and asked him how a young man like him could afford a place like this. Young, aged 25, replied \"Just lucky, Louie, just real lucky.\" https://tinyurl.com/6v8xnkdd"
