Raphael Saadiq, sampled Café Jacques's \"Meaningless\".\n\nQ-Tip explained the \"We Fight\" half of this tune to Clash magazine in 2009: \"That song is about the nineteen-year-old soldier boy here in America who is a bit ambivalent about things and is looking for his center, you know? And he can't really go to university because in this capitalist society you have to pay for almost everything. Abroad they have different views on that-you don't have to buy your way through school. In America you are forced to enlist and after a few years you're able to trade your time in the military for college credit. How wrong can a system get?\""

From the band: \"With Dreams Go, Poliça delivers their most emotionally resonant and texturally rich work to date—a poignant meditation on loss, resilience, and the fragile beauty of holding on. Written and recorded in the shadow of bassist Chris Bierden’s glioblastoma diagnosis, the album is both elegy and act of preservation, capturing the band at a moment of profound transition.\"\nhttps://www.thisispolica.com/about"

"text": "This new single, “Disco Life,” from Say She She's latest album Cut & Rewind is based on the disturbing story of the infamous “Disco Demolition Night,” a notorious promotion held on July 12th, 1979, at Chicago’s Comiskey Park during a White Sox doubleheader. Organized by radio DJ Steve Dahl, it invited fans to bring disco records to be blown up on the field between games. The stunt drew more than 50,000 people—far exceeding expectations—and spiraled out of control. After the explosion, thousands of attendees stormed the field, causing chaos and forcing the White Sox to forfeit the second game. The event became a cultural flashpoint, symbolizing the backlash against disco but also drawing criticism for its undertones of racism and homophobia, since disco was closely tied to Black, Latino, and LGBTQ communities.\n--\n“We wanted to reclaim that space and make it a playing field where all are free,” Say She She explained. “So we turned it into a discodelic dancefloor with our words, and every four on the floor drum beat is hopefully a stitch sewn.”\n--\nHere's a Guardian interview with the trio published September 5th: https://tinyurl.com/58w6x39n"
